    The police in Kano are re-strategizing to meet the security demand of the dynamic city of Kano State during this festive activities of Sallah. Spokesman of the command SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa has dis losed.

    The Commissioner of Police in the state,   Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, met with the Command’s Management Team and discussed for a Strategic Plan of Action which was carefully employed coupled with  professional approach to the provision of security for the vast populace of the state thought the period and beyond.

    The CP appreciates the Officers for the feat achieved in securing the State so far, and also charged them to operate in accordance with the ethics of the Force by extension the International Best Practices. 

    He also charged officers to key into the Vision and Mission of  IGP Alkali Baba Usman by being steadfast and resolute in decimating all criminal activities.

     The command has been recording successes in sustaining peace in the State, so is the need to sustain the tempo.

     The meeting centered on the provision of security everywhere in the State through Community Oriented Policing, Intelligence-led Policing, Visibility Policing, and Synergy with other Sister Security Agencies especially as the Eid-El Kabir Celebration approaches.

    115 arrested trying to disrupt sallah, durbur celebrations in five Emirates councils of Kano State

    One hundred and fifteen suspected thugs sponsored by some faceless politicians to disrupt the sallah celebrations and the traditional durbur in the five Emirates councils of Kano state were arrested on the eve of the festivities by the state police command.

    In a press released signed by the police public relations officer, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa revealed that the Command has uncovered plots by some political thugs and enemies of the State who planed to hide under political regalia and disrupt the Hawan Daushe Durbar Celebrations held11th April 2024) evening at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu in Kano.

    Fifty four of the Suspects were Arrested with Dangerous Weapons and Illicit Drugs on sallah day.

    Kiyawa further disclosed that another sixty one suspected thugs were also arrested during the just concluded Hawan Daushe Durbar that took place at the five Emirates councils.

    The suspects according to him were arrested with dangerous weapons and illicit drugs while trying to take advantage of the festive period to cause breakdown of law and order and unleash attacks on innocent citizens.

    The police further explained that, Sallah Durbar is not a political activity and any form of display of political party symbols such as billboards and posters are instruments of misinterpretation capable of ultimate breakdown of law and order advising Politicians to prevail on their supporters to understand that Sallah is a period of peace, unity, happiness and tradition.

    The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, who has prior to the sallah invited the five emirate councils, Ulama’s and stakeholders from various spheres of life to rub minds and come up eith a blueprint on how best to tackle and nip.in the bud any perceived threats to security for a peaceful Sallah celebrations also commended the combined efforts of the inter agencies security teams for keeping the State safe.

    All the arrested suspects are currently undergoing investigation after which they will be charged to court.

    Police uncover plans by religious group, politicians to disrupt sallah in Kano

    Kano State Police Command has uncover an evil plans by some identified religious and political pressure groups to compel the State Government to succumb, disregard the ongoing judicial processes on Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara and speak on the case together with the issues relating to the status of the five Emirate councils.

    Kano State commissioner of police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel revealed this Monday while addressing traditional leaders and stakeholders during a meeting he convened Monday to discuss better ideas with the Durbar Committees of the five Emirates councils, clerics from the Qadiriyya, Tijjaniyya, Izalah and all Divisional Police Officers from the forty-four Local Government Areas of the State, eleven Police Area Commands, two Squadron Commands and other Tactical Unit Commands directed his team to ensure peaceful celebration in all their domain.

    Gumel said, “These plans which we have uncovered shows that there are some enemies of the State who aim to disrupt the Sallah celebration activities, scuttle the entire existing peace in the state and cause embarrassment to the State Government”.

    As remedial action, CP Gumel pointed out that the police have strengthened security in the state with increased surveillance around flashpoints where the aforementioned insecurity elements are clustering; in particular the Kofar Nassarawa, Kofar Mata, Kofar Wambai and Kofar Kudu.”

    “We are fully ready to decisively deal with this ill-fated decision unless the planners change for better.”

    The CP while advising them to recind forthwith their nefarious plans also disclosed that the police are in close watch of their sponsors.

    Security agencies according to him are following up and trailing the event and stepping up measures to arrest the planners and face the full wrath of the Law.

    The police confide that it has provide adequate security for seamless events during the Sallah festivities by taken elaborate security measures to ensure nothing temper with peace during the period.

    The CP has also assures all residents of the State including tourists and those who are desirous to come and enjoy the Eid-El-Fitr Sallah Durbar events and other similar activities at the five Emirates councils to be calm and enjoy the celebrations.

    Gumel stressed that already, officers of the command have been directed to dealt with any form of security threat in their Areas of Responsibilities.

    The Operational Order adopted according to Gumel have sufficient personnels that are adequately detailed and mobilized to provide security at all the praying grounds and festival locations across the State.

    He said, “the capacity of the Police has been strengthened for ensuring the arrest and prosecution of all those found involved in any criminal activities during and after the Sallah festivities.”

    In addition to physical security, CP Gumel revealed that “we have deployed plain clothes security personnel in the State across the five Emirates and other identified areas to work with the communities in identifying spoilers and the enemies of the society with a view to apprehending them for the overall community safety.”

    “To this regard, we are further soliciting for the support of traditional rulers and clerics and appeal to them to be doing more by sensitizing the people to realize the need for offering information on movement of dubious characters for prompt action and such information would enable the Police Officers and men of the command to adequately implement the fashioned out security arrangements contained in the detailed Police Operation Order covering the entire period of the festivities.”

    “For the law-abiding residents and tourists please note that the following security advisories are for ensuring a hitch free Sallah festivities:”

    “Worshippers going to Eid Praying Grounds are advised to avoid carrying offensive objects that may trigger suspicions or apprehension.”

    “People are encouraged to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement of persons or items to the nearest Police Station.”

    “Parents and guardians should prevail on their underaged children and unlicensed persons from operating or racing with Motor Vehicles, Tricycles, and Motorcycles while going to Eid praying grounds and places of visit.”

    “Road users are advised to observe traffic rules and regulations and are warned to desist from reckless driving, car-racing, over-loading and dangerous driving.”

    “Parents and Guardians should always accompany their children with adults while going to Eid Praying grounds to checkmate cases of missing children, accidents, or any unsolicited dealings.”

    “Any group or individual under whatever guise is warned to desist from any act or conduct that will cause breach of peace and breakdown of Law and Order. Whoever is caught engaging in such activities will face the full wrath of the law.”

    “Display of political parties’ symbols such as billboards, fosters are instruments of misinterpretations and ultimate breakdown of law and order. Politicians are advised to prevail on their supporters to take Sallah as a celebration of unity and tradition.”

    22 netted for thuggery, 30 others listed as Police launch fresh manhunt for thugs in Kano

    A total of twenty two suspected thugs have been apprehended by the Kano state police command while thirty more were listed as efforts has been intensified to dominate all attempts for the re emergence of thuggery activities by lawless streets boys infamous around Dorayi Quarters and some parts of Kano and environs. The command’s public relations officer, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa has revealed.

    These arrests mark a significant step towards restoring peace and security in the affected communities which send a clear message that such criminal behavior will not be tolerated.

    The state commissioner of police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel organised a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders residing in the affected areas on the need to give maximum co-operation and assist the Police in ensuring that the perpetrators are dealt with according to the law.

    In view of this, the police and stake holders in Dorayi quarters has resolved to established Anti-Daba Unit in the area where a group of lawless youths recently unleashed mayhem and atrocities, at the same time blocked all roads leading to area for innocent citizens to dwell peacefully.

    The recent surge in thuggery activities in Dorayi Quarters and it’s environ within Kano Metropolis has raised concerns among residents and authorities alike, where some people took advantage of the situation to disseminate fake news.

    The Kano Police Command While responding swiftly to this growing trend, launched a targeted operation to curtail the unlawful activities and bring the perpetrators to justice.

    The swift action taken to address the resurgence of these criminal activities underscores the Command’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well being of all Kano residents.
