Zamfara State house of Assembly make “U” turn on allegation of connivance with bandits by it’s two recently suspended members to assassinate a former member of the Assembly Muhammad G. Ahmad.
The Director General Press Affairs and Public Relations of the State house of Assembly, Mustafa Jafaru Kaura had in the press released quoted to have stated that its member Yusuf Alhassan Kanoma during plenary sesssion alleged that the suspended members Yusuf Muhammad Anka and Ibrahim Tukur Bakura were the brain behind the assassination of a former law maker, Muhammad Ahmad.
Kaura, had on Tuesday 12/10/202, in a press released he personally signed disclosed that Kanoma after leveling various allegations against the two suspended members prior to their suspension further explained how the accused law makers were jubilation “during the kidnap saga of the father of speaker late Alhaji Mu’azu Abubakar Magarya.
In the earlier press released, Kaura revealed that Yusuf Kanoma alledged that “…these two unscrupulous elements in the House were brain behind the killing of late Hon Muhammad G. Ahmad (walin Jangeru) a former member representing Shinkafi constituency in the state House of Assembly through connivance with the bandits by telephone conversation that led to his killing.”
“While calling on the security agencies to fully track all their telephone lines and listened to all their conversations, Hon Kanoma also called on his colleagues to as a matter of urgency suspend them from all House activities for an initial period of three months pending the conclusion of investigations on the two erring House Members.”
Jafaru Kaura in a fresh press released made available to newsmen Thursday rescind on his statement, saying that “Members of the House only make reference with the gruesome murder of the late Hon. member by the armed bandits who mostly operate within and outside the state.”
The suspended members, Yusuf Muhammad Anka representing Anka constituency and Hon Ibrahim T.Tukur Bakura representing Bakura constituency were only penalised according to Kaura “for an alleged involvement in banditry activities in particular in the act of omission or commission of assassination of late Hon Muhammad G Ahamad (walin Jangeru) member that represented Shinkafi constituency in the state of Assembly during his life time.”
Kaura while accusing the press of peddling distorted reports even though they were facts contained in his earlier press released pointed out that, “The House wants to state categorically clear that his Assassination or involvement in the act of banditry as widely reported by some sections of the media in the country and even beyond is never an issue or fact in issue in the decision during the suspension of the two Hon members”
“The House at this material time is unequivocally clear and stands on its position that, the two embattled Hon members remain suspended pending the outcome, determination, and findings of the ethics and privileges Committee of the House as provided by law”
