Arrest of Murja Ibrahim Kunya: Birthday twice turns sour, How she was arrested

Murja Ibrahim kunya, a popular skit maker with millions of followers was arrested Sunday while making preparations for her much talked about Birthday party celebrations at Tahir Guess Palace in Kano.

The celebrity’s birthday was first slated twice but botch up. Her real birthdate was few weeks back but she postponed it to this weekend because of the death of her associate who double up as her neighbor who is also a skit comedy maker cum very popular, Kamal Aboki.

Murja said in one of her Tik tok videos that shifting the date of her birthday celebration became necessary considering that Mr. Kamal was friend and associate and it’ll be uncultured for her to cross the group of people at the residence of kamal’s family mourning his death and she was going to a party.

Murja was booking rooms for party Sunday when the police detective pounced on her and move her for detention.

It could be recall that in November last year, a Kano senior magistrate’s court used it’s jurisdiction to sentenced two skit makers, one Nazifi Bala and Mubarak Isa to thirty days of community service which translate to sweeping and washing toilets of the court complex at Noman’s Land and to twenty whip strokes for making TikTok jest of the Kano State governor Abdullahi  Umar Ganduje.

It was on that September that a Sharia court  wrote to the Commissioner of Police Kano State to arrest and investigate Miss Kunya alongside and other TikTokers for ‘corrupting the morals of the society.’

Magistrate Gabari further ordered the convicts to pay additional N20,000 fine each, make a video on social media and tender apology to Governor Ganduje.

Those listed in the letter include the popular song writer and Singer Ado Gwanja, another singer, Mr 442, popular Kannywood actress, Safara’u kwana casa’in, Samha Inuwa, Ummi Shakira, Dan Maraya, Babiana, Amude Booth and Kawu Dan Sarki.

The complaint was lodged by Muhd Ali Hamza Esq, Abba Mahmud, Esq, Sunusi I. Umar Esq, Abba, A.T Bebeji Esq, B.I Usman Esq, Muhd Nasir Esq, L.T Dayi Esq, G.A Badawi & Badamasi Suleiman Gandu Esq, I am directed by the presiding Upper Sharia Court Judge, Bichi Division Kano to write and kindly request you to conduct investigation against the above-mentioned suspects for proper action,”

Popular APC Praise Singer, Rarara resident set ablaze in Kano

The resident of President Muhammad Buhari popular praise singer in Northern Nigeria popularly known as Rarara was burnt down in Kano State following the declaration of Abba Kabir Yusuf announcement as governor- elect.

The house was burnt while properties looted by youth who saw the popular singer whose full names are Dauda Kahutu Rarara as supporting the APC and it’s candidates rather than supporting the NNPP and it’s presidential and Gubernatorial candidates Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso and Abba Kabir Yusuf respectively.

The action of the irate youths came at the heels of dawn to dusk curfew imposed accross the State by the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Rarara was promiscuous at the centre stage of APC campaigns during the last presidential campaign rallies as an entertainer and was also seeing posing with the president elect Bola Tinubu at various campaign venues.

An eyewitnesses disclosed that the thugs invaded the singers resident destroying valuables before setting the house on ablaze. 

The police acted swiftly and dispersed the thugs while the state fire service arrived and extinguished the fire.

As Murja Kunya Sentence by Upper Shari’a Court

at hockey field in Kano has sentence the popular TikTok skit makers Murja Ibrahim Kunya to three of sanitizing the Murtala Muhammad Hospital.

The presiding judge, justice Abdullahi Halliru while delivering judgement on the case also ordered the skit makers Murja Ibrahim Kunya to report daily to the Kano state hisbah command for six months.

Kunya appear before the court on January 30, this year where she was charged with three counts of defamation of character, injurious falsehood and criminal intimidation.

Prosecution counsel Lamido Sorondinki on the same date told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 29, on her WhatsApp Status.

The Upper Shari’a Court, ordered kunya to be remanded in correctional facility until 16th of this month.

The prosecution Counsel during the first hearing alleged that kunya on the 30th of January defamed the character of Aisha Najamu and Ashiru Mai-Wushirya, on her WhatsApp Status and shared it to the public.

The prosecutor further alleged that the defendant made an injurious statement against the complainants and threatened them in Hausa language.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 391 and 393 of Kano State Shari’a Law.

Defence counsel Yasir Umar-Musa, made a bail application pursuant to sections 35 and 36 of the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria,1999 as amended,168 and 172 of Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2019 Kano.

Presiding Judge Abdullahi Halliru failed to rule on the bail application but ordered the remand of the defendant in a Correctional Center and adjourned the matter until February 16, for hearing.
