Some youths and women under the aegis of political pressure groups in Bauchi metropolis yesterday converged at the Halliru Dauda Jika senatorial constituency office intimidating him of the need for him to cross-carpet to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to aspire for the governorship of the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.
It could be recalled that Senator Halliru Dauda Jika, a serving senator under the All Progressives Congress (APC) recently gambled into the party’s Bauchi state governorship primaries, but gallantly lost to Air Marshal Saddique Baba Abubakar (rtd) along with others.
Speaking at the occasion, one of the group’s leaders, Sadik Abdullahi Kobi, said they have resolved to bully Senator Halliru Dauda Jika look into the possibility of his cross-carpeting into the NNPP in order to meet his gubernatorial aspiration, saying the senator is a leader exemplary characteristics.
Kobi said, “This popular demand of mammoth crowds of both male and female are here to tender their plea to the Senator representing Bauchi central senatorial district, Senator Halliru Dauda Jika to consider his plan B option of pitching tent with another political party so as to meet his governorship aspiration of giving Bauchi state a good leadership”.
“We have prior to the conduct of party primaries conspicuously advised the APC leadership to zoomed gubernatorial ticket to Senator Halliru Jika because he was adjudged to be a man of the people and a leader who is committed to fulfilling the needs and aspiration of the down-trodden masses of Nigeria. So we are pleading with him to join the NNPP to assume the mantle of leadership of the state”.
“So in our position as vibrant youths and women, we all come out to not only peddle him into another political party, but also to ensure that he takes to a reputable and formidable political party that would enable him meet his aspiration such as NNPP”.
Abdullahi Kobi however assured the Senator that they would rally round him to whichever political party he moves into to meet his aspiration of clinching onto the governorship seat of Bauchi state comes 2023 polls.
Speaking on part of the women, Malama Saliha Abubakar said they were ever ready to comb all the nooks and crannies of Bauchi state to campaign for his leadership of the state, saying Jika is unparalleled to any of the gubernatorial aspirant in the state.
Responding on behalf of Senator Halliru Dauda Jika, his director media, Malam Haruna Muhammad commended the groups for their solidarity to the senator, assuring that he would unfailingly convey the message to the appropriate person to whom they were committed.
The Arewa Consultative Forum( ACF) has hail the 50% reduction of school fees for indigent students by the incumbent Governor, of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf as exemplary and worthy to emulate by other governor’s.
Gov. Yusuf has recently cut down 50% reduction in the registration fee for the 2023/2024 academic session for all Kano State indigenes studying regular courses at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano, Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, Kumbotso, Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Dambatta and other state owned tertiary institutions accross the state to cushion the worsening economic situation people have been going through.
While reacting to the governor’s initiative, the Chairman of the forum, Dr. Goni Farouk Umar described the decision as both revolutionary and a hallmark of visionary leadership.
He noted with delight the Kano State government’s resolve to restore its foreign scholarship programme designed to sponsor 1001 best graduates which demonstrates the government compassion that resulted in the payment of N700million registration fees for 700 Kano State students at the Bayero University Kano.
The ACF leader noted that both the slashing of the fees in state owned institutions, and the off-setting of the BUK fees would go along way to ease the burden on parents and the students occasioned by the current economic hardship.
Dr Umar who describe education as power, and pivot in society’s advancement, prayed for the successful implementation of the government’s pro-poor education policies.
He also appealed to all sections of the community to support educational development in all facets.
Women Rights Initiatives, (WORI), has felicitate with the governor elect of Kebbi state Dr Nasiru Idiris on his hard earned victory at the polls in the just concluded gubernatorial elections in the State.
The group in a statement signed by the Executive Director program Solomon Liman stated that “your victory is by the special will of Allah making you the next governor of Kebbi state.”
“The seemingly victory, denominated by series of political undercurrents, is a watershed among other things. It was a demonstration of the citizens trust in the administration of Senator Bagudu and more importantly their trust in your ability not only to build on the good works of the present administration but to raise the bar of governance in the state.”
The group pray for Almighty Allah to give the governor-elect Dr. Nasiru Idris the requisite wisdom, temperance and above all the needed wherewithal, required to take the state to the greater heights.
An aspirant with the Labour Party for the next gubernatorial election in Kogi State, Mr. ThankGod Simon Mameh has revealed that negotiating his candidacy with another political party is imperative as his earlier political flatform was already enmeshed with crisis especially at the national level even before the primary elections.
Mameh revealed this during an interactive session with journalist in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital Monday.
The labour party according to him should have harness the blessing it was endowed with withing the very short time Mr. Peter Gregory obi came on board but instead series of power tussles bedeviled the party.
He disclosed that he’ll make his new flatform known withing 48hrs from today believing that the new political party under which he’ll contest is run by erudite politicians that have carve a niche to be trusted time over.
He further disclosed that selecting the party is not easy cognisance that party leaders have to be scrutnised by a candidate with a view to pitch tent with a party that has outstanding quality leadership.
On the issue of labour party Mameh said ” as I’m talking now, there is no concrete assurance that the person tag as candidate of the labour party for Kogi gubernatorial election will remain the party’s candidate because the Lamidi Apapa faction of the party are saying and they believe that any primary Election for Kogi, Imo and Rivers conducted by the Julius Abure led EXCO is null and void because of an FCT court order they revealed they’ve obtain stopping Abure from parading himself as the national chairman.”
He stressed that his advisers thought that the crisis of the labour party will be quell before the primary elections but it was inflame and aggravated heading only to oblivion.
