Police in Kano state has provide a comprehensive update on the recent violent incidents that resulted in wanton destruction and looting of Government and public properties in Kano State.

The state commissioner of police, CP. Salman Dogo on Monday has revealed the arrest of eight hundred and seventy-three suspects and recovery of large quantity of exhibits.

The violence which was instigated by hoodlums under the guise of nationwide protest, as well as the achievements recorded by the Command in crime prevention, management and control from 1st to 10th August, 2024 was unveil by the state commissioner of police, CP. Dogo Salman.

The Kano State Police Command according to CP Salman Dogo has worked diligently and professionally in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to all Commands and Formations for ensuring professionalism and provision of Police service that is rule of law compliant, towards addressing the aftermath of these events.

The command has secure Arrest and prosecution of six hundred suspects for various offences, including criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, riot, theft, mischief and arson.

Others are Arrest and prosecution of One hundred and Fifty suspects for violating the curfew enforced by the Kano State Government.

Arrest of an additional six suspects linked with masterminding the destruction, setting ablaze and looting of the Kano Printing Press (KPP) which are undergoing investigation.

“Arrest and transfer of seventy-six suspects flying Russian flags, including a foreigner to Force Headquarters, Abuja for discreet investigation on charges of sedition and Arrest of forty-one suspects for other major crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping, car theft, etc.”

The command further disclosed the Recovery of two AK-47 Exhibit Rifles and other substantial properties looted by the hoodlums at Audu Bako Secretariat NCC Office, High Court Complexes, Kano Printing Press (KPP), Super Markets and other’s.

The commissioner of police stressed that Despite the challenges posed by the recent protest, it is important to highlight some of the achievements recorded by the Police Command in crime prevention, management, and control within the period under review.

The Command according to him has remained resolute and steadfast in its duty to protect the lives and properties of all residents in Kano State.

Two weeks notice has been issued by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to 3,273 allottees who are mostly top government officials serving in the current administration of president Bola Tinubu with threats to revoke the Certificates of Occupancy of plots of land they owned.

Also affected are prominent individuals and corporate organizations. Notable individuals affected include are high-ranking government officials,

The FCTA’s move according to the notice is aims to address infrastructural development in Maitama II (A10) District. Landowners are advised to settle their bills promptly to avoid losing property rights.

Kano Police Arrest Three Kidnapping Suspects, Rescue 4-Year-Old Victim

The Kano Police Command has announced the arrest of three kidnapping suspects and the successful rescue of a 4-year-old boy, Muhammad Nasir Jamilu, who was abducted from Sharada Quarters in Kano.

According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Public Relations Officer of the Kano Police Command, the victim was taken to Gwarzo Town in Gwarzo Local Government Area, where a ransom demand of N10 million was made. After negotiations, N300,000 was paid, with the balance pending.

Upon receiving the report, Commissioner of Police CP Salman Dogo Garba directed that the victim be rescued and the suspects be apprehended. Utilizing technical support, detectives arrested three suspects, Hisbullahi Salisu, 30 years old, Hassan Ali Rabiu, 28 years old both residents of Yakasai Quarters, Hassan Aliyu, 22 of Hotoro Quarters, Kano

The principal suspect, Hisbullahi Salisu, confessed to conspiring with the other suspects to kidnap the victim, who is his cousin. The victim was rescued unharmed and reunited with his parents after receiving medical attention at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano.

The Kano State Police Command commends the Surveillance Team for their professionalism and swift response, which led to the successful rescue of the victim.
