    Gusau residents celebrates restoration of GSM services.

    Thousands of Gusau residents, Zamfara State, have come out to show their appreciations and joy over the  restoration of GSM network services in the city of Gusau, state capital of Zamfara state after spending over a month without service.

    The shutting of network services was made by the Zamfara state government in collaborations with National Communications Commission fortnightly to help the security operatives launched fight against banditry and those frustrating their efforts.
     

    According to directives given by Zamfara state governor, Bello Muhammad Mutawalle Maradun the shutting of network in Zamfara state was done with all the support of stakeholders towards bringing an end to banditry activities in the state.

    Some of the youths interview in Tudun Wada, Gada-biyu, Bakin Kasuwa, Old Garage, Hayin Mai gemu and unguwar Dallatu stated their happiness with the directives of Gov Bello Muhammad Mutawalle of shutting down the network services and restoring the services in particular to allow people get back to their activities.

    Umar Sulemain Anka a shop owner at Tudun Wada describes the action as a great sacrifice for the successful operation for the fight against banditry activities in the state, appraising Gov Bello as a great leader with focus and zeal efforts to save lives and properties of ordinary citizens of the state.

    Hajiya Amina Musa Mai Shadda of Hayin Mai gemu comment on the activities of Banditry as great challenge that need to be addressed with all sacrifices needed, expressing her joy on the action taken by Gov Bello Muhammad Mutawalle to restore the service now.
    The restoration of the service was announced Friday by the state Commissioner for Information, Malam Ibrahim Dosara.

    Apart from the restoration of service, the curfew imposed on the state capital had been relaxed and that Gusau Central would now be open for business accordingly.
    Dosara said, the restoration of network services would only be limited within Gusau metropolis as other local governments would be reviewed as soon as possible, when the security situation improved.

    Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa has bag the inspector general of police (IGP) award of excellence in two different categories.

    The two outstanding officers currently serving in the Kano state police command as commissioner of police and Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO respectively were recognized for the award in view of their promiscuous achievements and honesty in the discharge of their responsibilities.

    The IGP’s awards and Commendations Ceremony which was held on Monday 15th April, 2024 at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja according to the Force Public Relations Officer, FPPRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobiu was for deserving officers who exhibits high level for exemplary performance and dedication to duty to Nigerians as officers of the Nigeria Police.

    ASP. Adejobi stated that. “The ceremony aim at motivating officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and service while recognising and honouring gallant, industrious, committed, honest and patriotic officers of the Force whose nominations were thoroughly scrutinised by the award Committee and inspire officers to be more committed to their work by emulating award winners.”

    Kano State command’s Commissioner of police Muhammad Usaini Gumel won the best advocate of community policing initiative while the Command’s Public Relations Officer PPRO SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa won the best PPRO of the year.

    CP Gumel according to the information read during the presentation of the award was described as “unrepentant advocate of community policing, resolving potential volatile conflicts and in fighting criminality.”

    “He has within two months of his assumption of office as Kano State command’s Commissioner of Police, through inter-agency collaboration, intelligence gathering, stakeholders collaboration and other initiatives of community policing strategies reduce drastically, mobile phone robbery which was rampant.”

    “Because of the large numbers of thugs, he embarked on a seal with stakeholders which worked out effectively in drastic reduction of the number of thugs in kano State. He has successfully counsel 222 youths that terrorise innocent citizens in the state to repent from the act of thuggery.”

    “He engage relevant stakeholders with the aim of, understanding, dialogue and co-operation towards finding sustainable solutions to the 40 year old farmers and herders clashes among others.”

    On his part during the presentation of the award as best Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the year. SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa was presented to the Public as an officer who pay special attention to communicating and engaging with people especially in their local Hausa language.

    “He participate in about five weekly programs on radio, television and other fora. He prepared and circulated 90 press releases, 150 photo news, 165 engagement videos and 20 press releases on both conventional and social media between 1st January, 2023 to 21st December of the same year.”

    “He is the recipient of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Commendation for exemplary representation of the police force, community partnership and dominating the socialist media space with social media engagements.”

    Kiyawa was also presented to the dignitaries as “the recipient of the Inspector General of Police Commendation for hard work, commitment, honesty and bridging the gap between the police and the public.”

    He is also the recipient of commendation letter from the Nigerian police radio and many more from agencies and organizations.

    The IGP has showered encomiums on junior officers who have been well represented in the nominee’s lineup for their outstanding noticeable performances, which earned them the nominations. He also emphasized their crucial role in maintaining law and order across the country.

    The Inspector General of Police extends heartfelt congratulations to all nominees and the winners. wishing them the very best while reaffirming the staunch dedication of the Force to fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism among its personnel.

    He charges all officers and men to continually show devotion to duty as the NPF looks forward to honouring more deserving officers in the future.

    Winner, in each of the categories were decorated by the special guests, that includes Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, mthe vice president, Kashim Shetima who represented president Bola Tinubu.

    115 arrested trying to disrupt sallah, durbur celebrations in five Emirates councils of Kano State

    One hundred and fifteen suspected thugs sponsored by some faceless politicians to disrupt the sallah celebrations and the traditional durbur in the five Emirates councils of Kano state were arrested on the eve of the festivities by the state police command.

    In a press released signed by the police public relations officer, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa revealed that the Command has uncovered plots by some political thugs and enemies of the State who planed to hide under political regalia and disrupt the Hawan Daushe Durbar Celebrations held11th April 2024) evening at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu in Kano.

    Fifty four of the Suspects were Arrested with Dangerous Weapons and Illicit Drugs on sallah day.

    Kiyawa further disclosed that another sixty one suspected thugs were also arrested during the just concluded Hawan Daushe Durbar that took place at the five Emirates councils.

    The suspects according to him were arrested with dangerous weapons and illicit drugs while trying to take advantage of the festive period to cause breakdown of law and order and unleash attacks on innocent citizens.

    The police further explained that, Sallah Durbar is not a political activity and any form of display of political party symbols such as billboards and posters are instruments of misinterpretation capable of ultimate breakdown of law and order advising Politicians to prevail on their supporters to understand that Sallah is a period of peace, unity, happiness and tradition.

    The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, who has prior to the sallah invited the five emirate councils, Ulama’s and stakeholders from various spheres of life to rub minds and come up eith a blueprint on how best to tackle and nip.in the bud any perceived threats to security for a peaceful Sallah celebrations also commended the combined efforts of the inter agencies security teams for keeping the State safe.

    All the arrested suspects are currently undergoing investigation after which they will be charged to court.

    Full speech of Kano state CP’s Wife, Hajiya A’Isha Gumel to Mark 2024 International Women’s Dsy

    The following Speech was delivered during the event of widows empowerment by POWA Chairperson, Mrs A’Isha Usaini Gumel yo mark the 2024 International Women’s Day:

    “Distinguished POWA executive, LAPOWA members, PPRO secretariat & other public relations team members our entertainers, the Band Ladies and gentlemen

    With emotional thoughts and sharing of the hardship feeling, I am hereby conveying the directives of the POWA national president which is to come and see you on International Women’s Day; the day set aside for showing love and compassion to the less privileged in our midst.

    It is on this note that the state chapter identified one hundred (100) women of this category among us who are going to benefit from the palliatives. A substantial amount was also set aside and to be shared among other beneficiaries of which each of them will be receiving a carton of spaghetti and others N5,000 each which will be shared shortly after the speech.

    I have the confidence that the beneficiaries are going to utilize the funds for the purpose it was meant which is to ease the current hardship created by scarcity of food and other means of livelihood.

    Finally, I am optimistic that the fund will be utilized judiciously as that is the purpose of this event is being initiated by our mother, the national president of POWA, Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun.
