One dead, many injured as soldiers, police clash in Jalingo. 

There was sporadic gunshots shattering the relatively tranquil atmosphere around the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Monday morning in Jalingo, Taraba State when security operatives comprising of the Nigerian army and the Police allegedly battle themselves resulting in the death of one police personel and several other people wounded.

Reports revealed that the battle began when a female police officer in mufti was asked to identify herself by a military personnel in uniform at the INEC office, venue of the collation center which she fail to comply and the soldiers allegedly assaulted her.

The soldiers alleged assault attracted the attention of the police personnel on duty around that axis which ignited the fight between the two teams of the security personnel.

More corpses and injured person’s are  expected to be recovered from the scene of the incident.

The soldiers allegedly went to the Police headquarters in Jalingo and vandalized several vehicles with gunshots.

Eye witness, at the time of filing this report revealed that many police vehicles at the police headquarters were riddled with bullet shots, their tyres punctured as the result adding that some uniforms littered with blood stains were seen around the premises while police personnels were also seen discussing their experience.

The eye witness went further to revealed that the soldiers came with armoured tank and raided the police headquarters in reprisal of the earlier incident at the INEC office catching the police unaware.

The  Police spokesman, Taraba state command was not reachable at the time of this reports. Official statement from the police is expected.
